Holiness is a gift,
Righteousness an inheritance.
Why should He, from His pearled throne
Stoop down to my place in the dust?
Where I sit with the rest alone,
Where my flesh rots and metal rusts,
How long, o Lord, my God,
must I walk this wretched road ?
How long, El Shaddai,
Must I bear up this load?
My feet sinking in the sod,
